Disclosed is a compound of formula (I) wherein &lsquo；a&rsquo； and R1-R5 are as described herein, as a modulator of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors particularly the &alpha；7 subtype, in a subject in need thereof, as well as analogs, prodrugs, isotopically substituted analogs, metabolites, pharmaceutically acceptable salts, polymorphs, solvates, isomers, clathrates, and co-crystal thereofs, for use either alone or in combinations with suitable other medicaments, and pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds and analogs. Also disclosed are a process of preparation of the compounds and the intended uses thereof in therapy, particularly in the prophylaxis and therapy of disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, senile dementia, and the like.L'invention concerne un composé de formule I: (I) dans laquelle 'a' et R1-R5 sont comme décrits ici, en tant que modulateur des récepteurs nicotiniques d'acétylcholine en particulier le sous-type α7, chez un sujet dans le besoin de celui-ci, ainsi que des analogues, promédicaments, analogues substitués de manière isotopique, métabolites, sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables, polymorphes, solvates, isomères, clathrates, et cocristaux de celui-ci, pour l'utilisation soit seul soit en combinaisons avec d'autres médicaments appropriés, et des compositions pharmaceutiques contenant ces composés et analogues.
