PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic image pickup device capable of preventing deterioration of image quality of a two-dimensional image and displaying the two-dimensional image exceeding an area of interest even in a case in which the two-dimensional image and a three-dimensional image are combined and displayed, and provide an ultrasonic image display method.SOLUTION: An ultrasonic image pickup device includes: a volume rendering part which constitutes a three-dimensional image by applying interpolation processing to a plurality of two-dimensional images stored in a first two-dimensional image storage part a cross section coordinate calculation part which calculates the cross sectional position with respect to the movement of an arbitrary cross section corresponding to the movement of a three-dimensional image a selection cross section image generation part which generates a selection cross section image in accordance with the movement of the three-dimensional image on the basis of the cross sectional position from at least one of the first two-dimensional image storage part and a second two-dimensional image storage part and a composite image generation part which composes the three-dimensional image and the selection cross section image.
