Disclosed are a tool chuck having improved operation reliability and durability and a handpiece equipped with the same. The disclosed tool chuck comprises: a socket having a circular pipe shape; a clamp inserted in the socket to be closely fixed to the inner circumferential surface of the socket, having a tool opening formed in the front end center thereof to enable a tool to be inserted therein, and equipped with a plurality of elastic projections formed in the rear end thereof to be elastically biased towards the tool inserted through the tool opening; and a sliding member inserted in the socket, disposed in the rear of the clamp to be able to forwardly and backwardly slide and move with respect to the socket, and having a sloped surface contacting the elastic projections. The elastic projections have tool adhering surfaces formed on the inner surfaces thereof so that the outer circumferential surface of the tool is adhered and pressed and the tool is fixed to not be separated from the clamp. When the sliding member is forwardly pressed to be forwardly moved with respect to the socket, the elastic projections are pushed and spread by the slope surface so that the tool adhering surface is separated from the outer circumferential surface of the tool. When pressure applied to the sliding member is released, the elastic projections are elastically restored so that the tool adhering surface adheres and presses the outer circumferential surface of the tool.
