PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finger vein authentication device which detects unnecessary light from the outside of the device when photographing is performed for registration or authentication, and if the registration or the authentication is hindered, notifies a user or a manager of the fact.SOLUTION: The finger vein authentication device includes determination means. The determination means photographs a finger vein image in a state where a finger to be photographed is irradiated with near infrared rays when the finger vein image is registered or authenticated, and the determination means extracts a contour image of the finger by repeating scanning of the photographed image in a direction orthogonal to an axis direction of the finger, by a predetermined distance in the axis direction.
