The present invention relates to a skin essence composition in a gel formulation with a high moisturizing effect which contains 35-50 wt% of moisturizer； 0.3-2.5 wt% of higher alcohol； 0.1-0.5 wt% of water-soluble polymer； 0.1-5.0 wt% of non-ionic surfactant； 0.1-10.0 wt% of oil based on the total weight of the composition. According to the present invention, the skin essence composition in a gel formulation with a high moisturizing effect appropriately mixes a great quantity of moisturizer, higher alcohol, non-ionic surfactant and oil and emulsifies the mixture to obtain a visually differentiated translucent material in a gel formulation.
