PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water resistant chitosan sheet with excellent mechanical strength and water absorbability, to provide a wound dressing using the water resistant chitosan sheet which requires less period for cure and makes a scar less noticeable after cure, and to provide a method for manufacturing the water resistant chitosan sheet.
SOLUTION: The water resistant chitosan sheet of complex of beta-glucan and chitosan, is obtained by for example, gelling beta-glucan after suspending chitosan in a beta-glucan solution and then solving chitosan with an acid aqueous solution to form composite gel, and drying the composite gel. The water resistant chitosan sheet is excellent in mechanical strength and absorbability, and very useful as a wound dressing.
