Disclosed herein is a low-molecular-weight polysulfated hyaluronic acid derivative represented by the following general formula (IA) or (IB), wherein the substituents are as defined within the specification, processes for its preparation, compositions comprising said compounds and uses thereof. Said compounds are useful for the prevention and/or treatment of an allergic disease, in particular pollinosis, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, atopic dermatitis, and asthma.
