PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article for a surgical operation, a detection device, and a detection method capable of easily performing detection and avoiding substantial increase in cost.SOLUTION: An absorbent article 1 for a surgical operation includes an article body 11 having absorptivity, and an electric conductor 12 attached to the article body 11. A thin wire such as a silver wire and a copper wire with a wire diameter of 0.4-1.0 mm that can be bent and deformed can be used as the electric conductor 12. The electric conductor 12 is provided along an edge 11A of the article body 11, and forms an annular part 13 as a whole.
