The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating metabolic diseases, comprising tryptophan hydroxylase 1 (TPH1), 5-hydroxytryptamine 2A receptor (HTR2A), or 5-hydroxytryptamine 3 receptor (HTR3) as an active ingredient. The inhibition of HTR3 causes various beneficial effects with respect to the treatment of metabolic diseases. The inhibition of HTR3 comprises resistance to obesity, decrease in the size of a fat drop lip, increase in the expression of a heat-generating gene, increase in metabolic activities, increase in insulin sensitivity, and decrease in LDL cholesterol and leptin.본 발명은 TPH1(Trypotophan hydroxylase 1), HTR2A(5-hydroxytryptamine 2A receptor) 또는 HTR3(5-hydroxytryptamine 3 receptor) 억제제를 유효성분으로 포함하는 대사질환의 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. HTR3의 억제는 대사질환의 치료에 대한 다양한 이로운 효능을 초래하며, 이는 비만에 대한 저항성, 지방 드랍립 크기의 감소, 열발생 유전자의 발현 증가, 대사 활성의 증가, 인슐린 민감성 증가 및 LDL 콜레스테롤과 렙틴의 감소를 포함한다.
