The invention relates to an injector for transcutaneously introducing a sensorinto a patient, comprising a cannula, a sensor arranged in the cannula, a baseelement, a sliding element arranged displaceably on the base element in aninjection direction, for transcutaneously introducing the cannula having thesensor into the patient in an injection operation, wherein the cannula atleastin a proximal region has a slot in a longitudinal direction of the cannula.Theinvention is characterized in that the injector has a holding element arrangeddisplaceably on the base element in order, in an ejection operation, whenpulling the cannula out of the patient, to prevent, by the holding element, thesensor from being pulled out, in that the holding element engages in theregion of a distal end of the sensor through the slot into the cannula,in that holding element and/or base element have at least one fixing means, and therefore, in the state of the cannula introduced transcutaneously intothepatient, the holding element can be locked automatically indirectly orpreferably directly on the base element. The invention furthermore relates toa method for transcutaneously introducing a sensor into a patient.
