PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, as an ultraviolet sterilizer using, as light sources, a deep ultraviolet ray emission diodes having lives longer than those of mercury lamps and entailing tenuous electric power consumption, an ultraviolet sterilizer capable of efficiently sterilizing a sterilization target because of its ability of irradiating high-intensity deep ultraviolet rays thereon, of facilitating maintenance, and of realizing compactness.SOLUTION: In an ultraviolet sterilizer for performing sterilization by irradiating deep ultraviolet rays onto a sterilization target streaming through a flow channel (140) whose perimeter is constituted by an ultraviolet-permeable material such as quartz, etc., a light source provided as a module (110) wherein multiple ultraviolet ray emission elements such as deep ultraviolet ray emission LEDs, etc. are arrayed and a beam condensing device (120) for condensing, via a prolate ellipsoid reflective mirror, etc., deep ultraviolet rays emitted from each ultraviolet ray emission element within the module are unitized (130) and configured on the perimeter of the flow channel so as to irradiate, onto the sterilization target, the deep ultraviolet rays condensed by the beam condensing device.COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT【課題】 水銀ランプに比べて寿命が長く、消費電力も低い深紫外線発光ダイオードを光源として使用した紫外線殺菌装置であって、被殺菌体に高強度の深紫外線を照射することができるため効率よく殺菌を行なうことができ、さらにメンテナンスが容易で、コンパクト化が可能な殺菌装置を提供する。【解決手段】 石英などの紫外線透過性材料で周囲が構成された流路(140)を流れる被殺菌体に深紫外線を照射して殺菌を行なう紫外線殺菌装置において、深紫外線発光LED等の紫外線発光素子を複数配置してモジュール(110)化した光源と、該モジュール中の各紫外線発光素子から出射される深紫外線を、たとえば長楕円反射ミラーなどを用いて集光する集光装置(120)とをユニット(130)化して前記流路の周囲に配置し、該集光装置によって集光された深紫外線を被殺菌体に照射するようにした。【選択図】 図4
