Cosmetics for oxidatively dyeing and/or lightening keratin fibers, especially human hair, containing, in a cosmetic carrier, at least one oxidant chosen from hydrogen peroxide and/or the solid addition products thereof attaching to inorganic or organic compounds, at least one alkanolamine of formula (I), NH3-x(CH2CH2OH)x(I), where x is one of the numbers 1, 2, or 3, and at least one alkanolamine of formula (II), where R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, a C1-C6 alkyl group, or a C1-C6 hydroxyalkyl group or R1 and R2 form a ring along with the carbon atom of the alkano-lamine, said ring having 4 to 8 ring atoms and optionally containing 1 to 2 heteroatoms, provided that R1 and R2 do not simultaneously represent hydrogen, wherein the cosmetic is ammonia-free.
