A spinal decompression belt for reducing the pressure exerted on a users ankles when using an inversion table. The spinal decompression belt includes an elongated pad to be disposed around a users abdomen and that can be secured by overlapping the end portions thereof. A cushioning member is removably securable to the interior of the first end for providing additional support to the users abdomen. The elongated pad further includes an elongated strap therearound that includes an adjustable fastener for securing the belt to the user. An extension strap having an adjustable fastener thereon extends from the front of the elongated pad to the rear thereof and can be positioned between the legs of the user. The extension strap further includes a fastener, such as a ring, having a pair of ankle bar straps thereon that can be wrapped around the ankle bars of an inversion table.
