Manufacture of intravascular functional element involves providing at least one wire having metallic surface and containing alloy of nickel and titanium, forming a primary oxide layer on metallic surface of metal component of wire, and carrying out heat treatment of wire in a nitrogen-containing salt bath to form secondary mixed oxide layer on primary oxide layer. The total thickness of oxide layers is 15-100 nm. The mixed oxide layer contains titanium oxide and titanium oxynitride and/or titanium nitride. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) use of salt bath during heat treatment of intravascular functional element； and (2) intravascular functional element.
