A connector attachable to the syringe barrel has a proximal barrel engagement portion, a distal luer attachment portion, and a perforated fluid opening. The barrel engaging portion of the connector includes an axial ledge configured to engage an axial distal edge of the glass syringe barrel. The connector facilitates mounting the luer assembly to the barrel. The luer assembly may be a tip cap, a luer needle assembly, or a luer needleless assembly having a complementary luer installation for connection to the luer mounting portion of the connector. The connector and syringe may further include a floating, compressible needle seal.
