The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating osteoporosis, including Pisidium coreanum powder as an active ingredient, wherein an ovarian exposium group shows a bone index factor numerical value corresponding to osteoporosis when compared to a control group (sham), whereas a group (OVX + Pisidium coreanum) orally administered with Pisidium coreanum in an ovarian exposium mouse shows an effect of inhibiting bone loss at a level of about 50% or more. In addition, it is confirmed that administration of Pisidium coreanum can reduce the progress speed of bone loss by inhibiting progression of osteoporosis induced by menopause. Therefore, the Pisidium coreanum powder of the present invention is expected to be useful for treatment of osteoporosis.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020본 발명은 피지디움 조개(Pisidium coreanum) 분말을 유효성분으로 포함하는 골다공증 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로서, 대조군(sham)과 비교했을 때 난소적출군은 골다공증에 해당하는 골 지표인자 수치값을 보이는 반면 난소적출 생쥐에 피지디움 조개(Pisidium coreanum)를 경구 투여한 군(OVX + Pisidium coreanum)은 약 50% 이상 수준에서 골 손실 억제효과가 있는 것으로 확인하였다. 또한, 피지디움 조개(Pisidium coreanum) 복용은 폐경으로 유도되는 골다공증 진행을 억제하여 골 손실의 진행속도를 더디게 할 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 이에, 본 발명의 피지디움 조개(Pisidium coreanum) 분말은 골다공증 치료에 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
