An adhesive securing member 210 for an ostomy product (1, Fig 1) comprises a flexible membrane having an adhesive surface and at least one slit 222 formed therein; the slit 222 serving to define at least two independently movable tab portions. The at least one slit 222 acts to increase the flexibility of the securing member 210 allowing for better conformity, and thus adhesion, between the securing member 210 and the non-flat surface the skin of a patient provides. The membrane further comprises a border section 216 at its radially outer edge 214 and a central region 218 located radially inward thereof; the border region 216 having a reduced thickness relative to the central region 218 such that the membrane has increased flexibility at the outer edge 214. It is further taught in the application that the adhesive securing member 210 preferably takes the form of an arcuate flange extender and wherein the adhesive surface thereof serves to secure the membrane simultaneously to the skin of an ostomate and to an ostomy flange (1, Fig 1).
