An adapter assembly (200) for selectively interconnecting a surgical loading unit (300) that is configured to perform a function and a surgical device (100) that is configured to operate the charging unit, the charging unit includes a member of axially transferable pulse (374), and the surgical device includes a rotary impulse shaft (118, 120), the adapter assembly comprises: a housing (202) configured and adapted for connection with the surgical device and to be in operational communication with each rotating impulse shaft of the surgical device; an outer tube (206) having a proximal end supported by the housing and a distal end configured and adapted for connection with the loading unit, wherein the distal end of the outer tube is in operative communication with each of the at least one axially movable impulse member of the load unit; and at least one force / rotation transmission / conversion assembly (240, 250, 260) for interconnecting a respective impulse shaft of the surgical device and an axially transferable respective impulse member of the loading unit, wherein the at least one force / rotation transmission / conversion assembly includes: a proximal rotation receiving member (218, 220, 222) that is connectable to a respective rotary pulse shaft of the surgical device; and a distal force transmission member (247) that is connectable to an axially transferable pulse member of the loading unit, the distal force transmission member is connected to the proximal rotation receiving member such that the rotation of the member proximal rotation receiver becomes axial translation of the distal force transmission member; wherein the at least one force / rotation transmission / conversion assembly converts and transmits a rotation of the first rotary pulse shaft of the surgical device to an axial translation of the first axially translatable pulse member of the loading unit; wherein the at least one transmission / force conversion / rotation set includes a first transm
