The present invention relates to a mixture of carboxylic acids: oxaloacetate, alpha-ketoglutarate, tartaric acid and calcium and/or sodium salts of lactic acid combined with sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate, for the oral treatment of patients with chronic renal failure (stages IV and V of KDOQI), hyperamonemia or human conditions that occur with a negative nitrogen balance. Said mixture is preferably administered orally but also intravenously, thus causing to decrease the serum and ammonium values, and promoting the biosynthesis of non-essential amino acids. Also, it improves the nutritional status and raises the serum albumin levels. This treatment prevents and preserves the renal function, delaying the need for renal replacement treatment (peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, renal transplantation).Nuestro invento es una mezcla de ácidos carboxílicos: oxalacetato, alfacetoglutarato, ácido tartárico y sales cálcica y/o sódica del ácido láctico, en combinación con bicarbonato de sodio y carbonato de calcio, para el tratamiento oral conservador de los pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica (estadios IV y V de la KDOQI), hiperamonemia o condiciones humanas que cursen con balance nitrogenado negativo. Dicha mezcla es utilizada preferentemente vía oral pero también vía intravenosa. Disminuye los valores séricos de urea y amonio, al mismo tiempo que promueve la biosíntesis de aminoácidos no esenciales, con lo que mejora el estado nutricional y eleva los niveles de albúmina sérica. Este tratamiento previene y preserva la función renal, retardando la necesidad de tratamiento renal sustitutivo (diálisis peritoneal, hemodiálisis, trasplante renal).
