The present invention addresses the problem of providing a ceramic composite material which exhibits an additional effect imparted by making platinum or the like supported on an inorganic material. The present invention is a ceramic composite material comprising: a particulate material which comprises platinum, gold, silver, diamond or palladium and which has a volume-mean particle diameter of 1 to 300nm; a substrate which comprises an inorganic material consisting of zirconium carbide and/or zirconium oxide and which carries the particulate material on the surface; and an adhesive layer which is interposed between the particulate material and the substrate and which comprises a colloidal silica. Zirconium carbide exhibits excellent heat dissipation, and thus can speedily dissipate the heat applied thereto. Zirconium oxide is a white stable material, thus being useful as a dental material. Zirconium oxide also acts as an electrolyte at a high temperature, thus being useful for a fuel cell or a sensor. Since the ceramic composite material contains a particulate material of platinum or the like in a bonded state, the ceramic composite material exhibits an unexpected effect.
