Disclosed are compounds, compositions, and methods for the treatment of radiation exposure or prevention against radiation exposure. In some embodiments, the present invention treats radiation exposure, compounds and compositions for use in treating or protecting against trauma or damage caused by radiation exposure, and treating radiation exposure or radiation exposure. Methods are provided for using such compounds to protect against trauma or damage caused by. In one embodiment, one or more compounds are used therapeutically during radiation exposure, after radiation exposure, or during and after radiation exposure. In another embodiment, one or more compounds are used prophylactically prior to radiation exposure. In another embodiment, the one or more compounds are administered concurrently with radiation exposure.
