PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas treatment apparatus capable of treating various malodors with reduced initial costs and running costs by utilizing the oxidation reaction of a photocatalyst and the adsorption function of activated carbon.
SOLUTION: A module 4 is constituted by sandwiching an activated carbon layer 4c between photocatalyst carrying layers 4d, 4d and arranging a required number of ultraviolet lamps 4b. For the purpose of allowing an exchange of the individual modules 4 when the performance of the photocatalyst carrying layer 4d and the activated carbon layer 4c falls, the module 4 can be removed. In a normal operation, a three-way valve 9 connects a raw gas inlet port and a duct 15 to communicate with each other, and a two-way valve 8 is opened. If a fan 6 is activated in this state, the raw gas is caused to flow upward from downside in a deodorizing unit 10, and treated by the modules 4L, 4 sequentially.
