The object of the present invention is to provide a microorganism which places little burden on the environment, shows an extremely low possibility of a resistant pathogenic bacterium to emerge, and has a superior controlling ability against various plant diseases (in particular, soft rot and canker of leaf and root vegetables) ； a plant disease controlling agent containing the microorganism； and a method for controlling plant diseases comprising applying the plant disease controlling agent to the plant and/or the grove soil thereof. A plant disease controlling agent is used which contains a bacterial cell of Pseudomonas rhodesiae having controlling ability against plant diseases, preferably a bacterial cell of Pseudomonas rhodesiae FERM BP-10912 or its variant having controlling ability against plant diseases.본 발명은 환경에 대한 부하가 적고, 저항성 병원균이 발생할 가능성이 매우 낮으며, 또한 다종의 식물 병해 (특히 엽채ㆍ근채류의 연부병이나 궤양병) 에 대하여 우수한 방제능을 갖는 미생물, 그 미생물을 함유하는 식물 병해 방제제나, 그 식물 병해 방제제를 식물 및/또는 그 식물의 재배 토양에 처리하는 식물 병해의 방제 방법을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 하는 것이다. 식물 병해에 대한 방제능을 갖는 슈도모나스 로데시아 (Pseudomonas rhodesiae), 바람직하게는 식물 병해에 대한 방제능을 갖는 슈도모나스 로데시아 FERM BP-10912 또는 그 변이주의 균체를 함유하는 식물 병해의 방제제를 사용한다.
