#$%^&*AU2017228654A120171005.pdf#####ABSTRACT A method of using data from an in vivo analyte sensor of an electronic analyte monitoring system to determine and administer a bolus insulin dose is disclosed, comprising: positioning at least a portion of the in vivo analyte sensor in contact with interstitial fluid in a body of a user; using the electronic analyte monitoring system to determine bolus insulin dose information by: receiving, at one or more processors, analyte data related to an analyte level of a user from an in vivo analyte sensor; determining, using the one or more processors, an analyte level of the user from the received analyte data; determining a rate of change of the analyte level of the user using the received analyte data and prior analyte data; determining, using the one or more processors, a recommended bolus insulin dose based at least in part upon the determined analyte level of the user; and modifying, using the one or more processors, the recommended bolus insulin dose based at least in part upon a lag between an interstitial fluid analyte level and blood analyte level; and administering a bolus to the user based at least in part on the modified recommended bolus insulin dose.
