PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition which may be used for inhibiting production of inflammatory mediators, such as superoxide ion.SOLUTION: A composition for anti-inflammatory treatment contains one or more kinds of polyphenols and two or more kinds of carotenoids selected from lutein, lycopene, and &bgr；-carotene, the polyphenols being selected from carnosic acid, quercetin, resveratrol, gallic acid, chicoric acid, gingerol, and curcumin； the daily amount of each active agent is in the range of 1 to 5 mg. The composition for anti-inflammatory treatment is directed to the use of a combination of one or more kinds of polyphenols and two or more kinds of carotenoids, the polyphenols being in the range and the two or more kinds of carotenoids comprising one or more additional carotenoid selected from &bgr；-carotene and lutein and lycopene, in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of conditions responsive to inhibition of superoxide ion, NO, TNF-&alpha； and/or PGEproduction.【課題】スーパーオキシドイオンなどの炎症性メディエーターの産生を阻害するのに使用されうる組成物の提供。【解決手段】１種以上のポリフェノールならびにルテイン，リコペンおよびβカロテンから選択される２種以上のカロテノイドを含み，ポリフェノールがカルノシン酸，ケルセチン，レスペラトロール，没食子酸，チコリ酸，ジンゲロールおよびクルクミンから選択され，活性作用剤のそれぞれの１日量が１～５ｍｇの範囲である抗炎症治療用組成物。また，スーパーオキシドイオン，ＮＯ，ＴＮＦ－α及び／又はＰＧＥ２産生の阻害に応答する状態の治療用医薬品の製造における，１種以上のポリフェノールと２種以上のカロテノイドとの組み合わせの使用であって，ポリフェノールが前記範囲であり，２種以上のカロテノイドがβカロテンとルテイン及びリコペンから選択される１種以上のさらなるカルテノイドとである抗炎症治療用組成物。【選択図】なし
