The fluid injector system is associated with and connected to a single-use disposable set having an electric fluid injector, a single-use disposable set having tubing connected to the fluid inlet port at the first end and connected to the waste outlet port at the second end. A detector configured to generate a signal in response to sound waves, ultra-low frequencies or ultrasonic waves emitted from the single-use disposable set during the priming operation of the use disposable set. In some examples, the detector is configured to generate a signal if the frequency of the wave emitted from the single-use disposable set is outside the predetermined frequency range corresponding to the predetermined frequency range of air discharged from the tubing.
