The medical device (108) comprises: • at least one insertable element (112), wherein the insertable element (112) comprises at least one in vivo distal end (142) for subcutaneous insertion and at least one ex vivo proximal end (144); • at least one insertion cannula (110) for subcutaneously inserting the insertable element (112), the insertion cannula (110) having a lumen (122) which fully or partially is enclosed by a wall (124) of the insertion cannula (110), wherein the insertable element (112) is received in the lumen (122), wherein the wall (124) comprises at least one shape memory alloy, wherein the insertion cannula (110) is stored in a first shape configuration (136), wherein the insertion cannula (110) is configured to be transformable into a second shape configuration (160) for insertion.
