The present invention relates a noval release modulating tri-polymeric blend based solid pharmaceutical matrix controlled release compositions of macrolides like CLT adapted for oral once a day administration comprising of: -therapeutically effective amount of a pharmacologically active agent selected from the class of macrolides, and -combination of release modulating polymers comprising at least one water swellable/soluble polymer, a polymer insoluble in gastric fluid and essentially a high viscosity high molecular weight polymer belonging to the class of polyalkylene oxides.
