PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volatile space mildewproofing agent having a non-contact mildewproof effect by using vapor, excellent in odor quality and odor strength, and less in the residue of an odor which adhered to clothing or the like once, and a method for inhibiting generation of mildew using the same.SOLUTION: The volatile space mildewproofing agent contains monohydric alcohol consisting of only 6 carbon atoms, 1 oxygen atom and hydrogen atom as an active component, and the monohydric alcohol is at least one alcohol selected from unsaturated alcohol and alicyclic alcohol. The solid volatile space mildewproofing agent composition is one carrying the volatile space mildewproofing agent on a carrier body.
