PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicic acid component supplying agent for algae, capable of continuously supplying silicon to algae, hardly causing occurrence of precipitation even if excessively charging, easy to manage so as not to cause shortage of silicon, and easy to handle, and to provide a silicic acid component supplying method to algae.
SOLUTION: This silicic acid component supplying agent has as the main ingredient, silica gel or silica sol which is obtained by previously letting alkali metal silicate react on mineral acid in an inside system different from in water where algae live. It is possible to give algae silicic acid component by charging the silicic acid component supplying agent into water where algae live. Silicic acid component is gradually eluted from the silicic acid component supplying agent according to silicic acid concentration in water, and the eluted silicic acid component is free from gelatinizing or reacting on other inorganic component in an inside system, so white turbidity or precipitation is not produced.
