An injectable composition for bone filling or consolidation, for use in surgery or therapy, characterized in that it comprises a biocompatible powdery material, which is hardenable or cross-linkable and selected from calcium sulphate hemi-hydrate and polymethylmethacrylate, a hardening or cross-linking agent for said material and a porous silica-based powdery material, having a specific surface area higher than 100 m2/g, which comprises a mesoporous bioactive glass, obtainable/achievable by a sol-gel method with the addition of a surfactant as structure-directing agent for pores formation, comprising an oxide mixture containing:SiO2: from 60 to 85% by molesCaO: from 10 to 30% by molesP2O5: from 2 to 10% by molessaid composition, when applied to an affected area of a patient, being adapted to form a composite material wherein said hardenable or cross-linkable material constitutes a matrix and said mesoporous bioactive glass constitutes a dispersed phase in said matrix.
