The present invention relates to an MRI contrast agent containing a gadolinium complex, and more specifically to DO3A-tranexamic acid or an ester compound thereof having the structure of Formula 1 and a gadolinium complex thereof. According to the present invention, DO3A-tranexamic acid or an ester compound thereof can be produced, and a gadolinium complex can be produced using the compound. The gadolinium complexes produced according to the present invention showed thermodynamic and kinetic stability and showed a relaxation rate comparable to clinical contrast agents currently on the market. Therefore, the gadolinium complex according to the present invention can be widely used as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
