An anal irrigation system e.g. enema system, comprising an irrigation nozzle 11 for insertion in a user, a reservoir 5 for containing a liquid, at least one conduit 9 for carrying liquid from the reservoir 5 to the irrigation nozzle 11, a pneumatic pressuring means 4 to create positive gas pressure in the reservoir 5 and force liquid from the reservoir 5 through the or each conduit 9 to the irrigation nozzle 11.
