&Acy feeder drum for a bale feeder used to unravel a bale of animal fodder such as hay is disclosed. The rotor drum has a plurality of groups (7) of circumferentially spaced apart teeth (8) and &acy plurality of paddles (10) between the groups of teeth (8). The paddles (10) are inclined with respect to the axis of the drum. The paddles (10) form a continuous inclined row that from each side is inclined towards the centre of the drum. The paddles (10) centre the bale and assist in feeding out soft or sloppy bales. The drum may be the lower drum of a bale feeder which in combination with an upper toothed drum separates and teases out a hay bale, for example, in an evenly distributed manner.
