A cryoprobe clamp for creating alesion in a target tissue comprises a housing portion,a handle extending from the housing portion, aclamp assembly including a distal blade and aproximal blade structured for clamping a targettissue therebetween, a trigger mechanism positionedadjacent the handle and operably coupled to theclamp assembly, and an ablation tool extendingbetween the housing portion and the clamp assembly.The distal blade includes receiving means structuredto receive a distal portion of the ablation tool, and theproximal blade includes an outer frame surroundingan open window portion. Upon clamping the targettissue between the distal and proximal blades, a lesionformed by the distal end of the ablation tool is visiblethrough the window portion of the proximal blade.
