A locking system for a support, protective clothing and similar article is disclosed. The locking system includes a plurality of opposing string guides and a tightening mechanism. The locking system further includes a strap extending through the guide and coupled to the tightening mechanism. In some embodiments, a quick release device is included to facilitate opening of the locking system.
