A system includes a smartphone, the smartphone including at least a processor, a memory and a display, the memory including at least an operating system and an adherence app, a connector system, the connector system removably linking the smartphone to a medication dispensing container, the connector system including at least sensing technology that enables the connector system to read an activity from the medication dispensing container, and a server in a network of interconnected computer devices, the server communicatively linked to the smartphone to enable interaction between the adherence app and an adherence process residing in the server.
