摘要:
Suture methods and device using an elongated thread-like body with a plurality of barbs or teeth and a needle point or spike at one end and a collapsible loop anchor or another stopping geometry such as a ball or mushroom cap or tee at the other end. The barbs allow movement of the body in the direction of the point and prevent movement of the body in the reverse direction. The barbs are cut from the body using a straight cut to the body at an angle and the length of barb is determined by the transverse depth of cut. The barb spacing is determined by the longitudinal spacing of the cuts along the body. The loop stopping geometry prevents the suture from being pulled through and allows the suture point to be passed through and fastened or tied off. The suture is made from either non-absorbable material such as polymers, metals, alloys, and natural fibres; or bio-absorbable material comprises one or more of polydioxanone, polylactide, polyglycolide, polycaproiactone, and copolymers thereof,or copolymer of approximately 67% glycolide and approximately 33% trimethylene carbonate.
