A skin treatment device comprising a light source providing a light beam for optically treating skin, a wheel with a wheel surface for reflecting the light beam towards the skin, driving means for rotating the wheel and changing an angular position of the wheel, where different angular positions of the wheel correspond to different directions of reflection for the light beam, an angular position detector for detecting the angular position of the wheel, storage means for storing predefined skin-treatment patterns, a relation between the different angular positions of the wheel and different reflection directions of the light beam, a control circuit coupled to the light source. The light source being controlled in dependence on the detected angular position such that, for each revolution of the wheel, the light beam is controlled to only illuminate the wheel surface in selected angular positions of the wheel to realize a predefined skin-treatment pattern.
