The present invention provides a therapeutic drug for muscle weakness (sarcopenia) or metabolic disease comprising an inhibitor of mucrystallin (CRYM) as an active ingredient. The inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of antisense nucleic acids against CRYM, RNAi-inducible nucleic acids, ribozymes or their expression vectors, and antagonist antibodies, and low molecular weight compounds that inhibit the activity of CRYM.本発明は、ミュークリスタリン（CRYM）の阻害物質を有効成分として含有してなる筋力低下症（サルコペニア）または代謝性疾患の治療薬を提供する。該阻害物質としては、CRYMに対するアンチセンス核酸、ＲＮＡｉ誘導性核酸、リボザイムまたはそれらの発現ベクター、およびアンタゴニスト抗体、ならびにCRYMの活性を阻害する低分子量化合物からなる群より選ばれる。
