The arrangement is characterized in that the uterine activity of a patient is monitored continually, by monitoring the patient's movement. Data obtained from the monitoring is simultaneously measured and stored in a mobile sensor module (1) and compared and evaluated continually by application software (5) using filtration and analysis algorithms. The method enables continual detection of uterine contractions, their frequency and intensity, evaluation of their severity level. As a result there is provided an early risk diagnosis of preterm birth. The arrangement has a mobile sensor module (1), which is operably connected via its connector (13) to a home station (2) wherein said home station (2) is operably connected through a wireless communication GPRS modem (24) to a data storage (31) on the FTP-server (3); whereas the data storage (31) is then connected to an Internet interface (41) of a computer (4), or is connected directly by the USB module (25) to the USB module (42) of the computer (4).
