PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning unit which is extremely excellent in removing pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, volatile hydrocarbons and dust including suspended particulate matter, and to provide a cleaning structure using the cleaning unit.SOLUTION: A cleaning unit body incorporates an activated carbon fiber molding which is constituted by including an activated carbon fiber and has air permeability between both sides. In the cleaning unit, a form holding member for holding the activated carbon fiber molding to a pleat shape is provided. Further a surface plate which is disposed at the surface side of the activated carbon fiber molding and at the plate surface of which two or more ventilation holes for permitting ventilation over both sides are formed, is provided. The mountain part of the activated carbon fiber molding at the surface plate side is pressed by the surface plate to a rear surface side, in a state where the activated carbon fiber molding is held in the pleat shape by the form holding member and also is held in the cleaning unit body. Thereby in the cleaning unit, a region of high fiber density of the activated carbon fiber and a region of low fiber density thereof alternately are present in the spreading direction of the activated carbon fiber molding. There is also provided the cleaning structure using the cleaning unit.
