The invention relates to a device comprising an absorption article and an air-extraction device for the humid conditions prevailing in the region of the absorption article (9), for example a nappy, when worn by a patient, and also comprising a flexible container (1,1a) which is arranged in the humid region of the patients body, is provided with apertures (4) in its wall (2, 5) and has air exchanged by way of a pump, and to a method of operation for improving the conditions in the absorption article (9) by air being extracted by suction from the absorption article (9) using the air-extraction device.
