The implant has a coating containing water soluble antibiotic e.g. gentamicin sulfate, water and humectant, which is selected from a group consisting of water soluble polyols, oligoalkylene glycols such as oligomeric polyethylene glycol, and aminoacids i.e. glycine. The polyols are selected from glycerol, sorbitol, mannitol, glucitol and aianhydroglycitol. The polyethylene glycol is selected from a group consisting of ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol and tetraethylene glycol. The coating consists of antiseptics, antibiotics, antiphlogistics and hemostyptics. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a coated implant.
