Provided herein is a contact lens disinfecting solution comprising from 0.5% to 6% by weight of hydrogen peroxide, or a chemical precursor of hydrogen peroxide, and a P-metal modulating compound. In the presence of a P-metal modulating compound in the disinfected hydrogen peroxide solution, the rate of neutralization of the hydrogen peroxide is delayed, especially during the initial 2 hours, by the catalytic element comprising the P-metal.
