Controlling a target species using an submersible by manoeuvring a submersible, particularly a ROV 20, to position a tube mouth 32 mounted on the submersible around the body of an individual of a target species, activating an impeller 30 to produce a pressure potential which sucks the individual through a tube 31 and into a container 34 attached to the tube end opposite and distal from the tube mouth and deactivating the impeller. A flap 35 moveable between a closed and an open position is arranged within the tube to control movement of objects though the tube and the impeller is located between the flap and the tube mouth, to create a pressure potential between the tube mouth and the distal end when activated. The submersible is deployed in a target area for capturing individuals of the target species, in particular lionfish. One or more submersibles may be used.
