Provided is a radiation image capturing system wherein image capturing conditions can be appropriately set up for a radiation generating apparatus associated with a bucky device in an environment ready for capturing images by inserting either a CR cassette or an FPD cassette into the bucky device which can accept both a CR cassette and an FPD cassette. The radiation image capturing system (1) is equipped with a radiation generating apparatus (4), a bucky device (3) a portable FPD cassette (2a), a CR cassette (2b), and a console (7) having a display section (71) for displaying icons corresponding to the usable bucky device (3) and the portable FPD cassette (2a). When the icon (3A) corresponding to the bucky device (3) is selected from among the icons, the console (7) starts up the radiation generating apparatus (4) associated with the selected bucky device (3) and controls the radiation generating apparatus (4) to apply radiation having a quantity of radiation matched to the type of the inserted cassette (2) which has been notified by the bucky device (3).
