PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial composition which has high cost effectiveness, minimizes the possibility of occurrence of disadvantageous environmental and toxicological effects and is usable in a wet state.SOLUTION: An antimicrobial composition contains isothiazolinone, e.g., 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one (BIT), and one or more zinc compounds selected from zinc salts, zinc oxide, zinc hydroxide or their combinations. The content of BIT is 1-500 ppm, and the content of the zinc compounds is 5-200,000 ppm. Useful zinc salts include the oxide, sulfate and chloride and their combination. In use, zinc enhances the antimicrobial activity of the isothiazolinone-containing composition, and the enhancement allows achievement of a desirable antimicrobial activity in a concentration of isothiazolinone lower than concentration of isothiazolinone in the absence of the zinc compound. The antimicrobial composition preferably contains an auxiliary biocide, e.g., pyrithiones, including zinc pyrithione or copper pyrithione.【課題】費用効率が高く、不利な環境的及び毒物学的な影響が生じる可能性を最小化する湿潤状態での用途の為の抗菌性組成物の提供。【解決手段】イソチアゾリノン、例えば１，２－ベンズイソチアゾリン－３－オン（ＢＩＴ）、及び、亜鉛塩、酸化亜鉛、水酸化亜鉛、又は、それらの組み合わせから選択される亜鉛化合物を含む抗菌性組成物。ＢＩＴが１～５００ｐｐｍで亜鉛化合物が５～２００，０００ｐｐｍで含有する抗菌組成物。有用な亜鉛塩としては、酸化物、硫酸塩、塩化物等及びそれらの組み合わせ。使用時において、亜鉛が、イソチアゾリン含有組成物の抗菌活性を増強し、この増強は、イソチアゾリノンを亜鉛化合物の非存在下での濃度よりも低いイソチアゾリノン濃度で、望ましい抗菌活性の達成を可能にする。更に、ピリチオン、例えばジンクピリチオン又は銅ピリチオンのような補助殺生剤を含む抗菌性組成物。【選択図】図１
