It is described use of herbicidal combinations for controlling harmful plants in maize crops wherein the herbicidal combination has an effective content of (A) one or more broad-spectrum herbicides being selected from the group consisting of type (A1) glufosinate and related compounds, type (A2) glyphosate and esters or salts thereof, (A3) imidazolinones and salts thereof, (A4) herbicidal azoles being selected from the group consisting of the protoporphyrinogen oxidase inhibitors (PPO inhibitors) and WC9717 PPO inhibitor, (A5) cyclohexanedione herbicides and (A6) heteroaryloxyphenoxypropionic acid herbicides and (B) one or more herbicides selected from the group consisting of (B1) herbicides selected from the group consisting of cyanazine, atrazine, terbuthylazine, acetochlor, metolachlor, alachlor, terbutryn, benoxacor, nicosulfuron, rimsulfuron, primisulfuron, dimethenamid, fluthiamide, sulcotrione, simazine, mesotrione and penthoxamid; (B2) herbicides selected from the group consisting of pendimethalin, pyridate, iodosulfuron, metosulam, isoxaflutole, metribuzin, cloransulam, flumetsulam, linuron, florasulam and isoxachlortole; and (B3) herbicides selected from the group consisting of bromoxynil, dicamba, 2,4-D, clopyralid, prosulfuron, thifensulfuron, carfentrazone, tritosulfuron (Lab271272), MCPA, halosulfuron, diflufenzopyr and sulfosulfuron.
