The present invention provides a method to treat sinusitis comprising (a) inserting a portion of an irrigation catheter having an expandable material in a non-expanded state endoscopically into a sinus of a patient through ostium of a sinus； (b) expand the expandable material under endoscopic visualization until it has expanded and filled some portion of the sinus without directly contacting and compressing mucosal surfaces of the sinus； (c) introducing irrigation fluid into the sinus through an irrigation lumen of the catheter to create a circumferential irrigation flow in space between the expanded material and the mucosal surface in order to dislodge and express sinus contents.La présente invention concerne un procédé de traitement de la sinusite comprenant (a) l'insertion d'une partie d'un cathéter d'irrigation (100, 200) ayant un matériau expansible (par exemple, 1 10, 212) dans un état non expansé par voie endoscopique dans un sinus (par exemple, 2, 4, 6) d'un patient à travers l'ostium (par exemple, 138) d'un sinus (2) ； (b) la dilatation du matériau expansible sous visualisation endoscopique jusqu'à ce qu'il soit expansé et ait rempli une partie du sinus sans contact direct et compression des surfaces muqueuses (144) du sinus ； (c) l'introduction d'un fluide d'irrigation dans le sinus à travers une lumière d'irrigation du cathéter pour créer un flux d'irrigation circonférentiel dans l'espace entre le matériau expansé et la surface des muqueuses afin de déloger et d'exprimer le contenu du sinus.
